Landmark National Travelling Exhibition
In partnership with the National Museum of Australia, a major exhibition will reflect on the role surf lifesaving has played in shaping Australian beach culture. The exhibition will be launched in Canberra in December 2006 and travel to all Australian capital cities over the following 12 months.
Australia Day Celebrations
Get the flavour for the Year of the Surf Lifesaver at Australia's largest annual community celebration, Australia Day. YSL will be prominent at Australia Day celebrations in all capital cities with possible recognition including flag and banner displays and dazzling surf lifesaving surf craft demonstrations.
History Book
A group of ten eminent authors have come together to produce the book which will focus on the history of Surf Life Saving Australia and the crucial role surf lifesaving has played in the emergence of Australian beach culture.
Stamp and Coin
SLSA is working closely with Australia Post and the Royal Australian Mint on the development of a series of stamps and coins to reflect the many faces of surf lifesaving
Ambassadors Program
Approaches are currently being made to a number of key Australians from all works of life to lend their name and face to the 'Year of the Surf Lifesaver'.
Schools education program
SLSA is developing a major primary and secondary schools education program. This national resource will be launched in January 2007.
Fundraising
A target of $20m will enable SLSA to establish a major financial legacy for the future growth of the surf lifesaving movement. The public, corporate Australia and state and federal governments will be asked to contribute to help build a strong future for SLSA.
TV documentary
SLSA is currently scoping the prospects for a number of documentaries concepts, including looking at SLSA's influence on beach culture, and a reality TV show based around surf lifesaving.
Schools education program
